Wyetech is seeking an experienced Cloud Software Engineer – Level 3 to support the research, design, development, integration, and sustainment of complex cloud-based software solutions supporting mission-critical Intelligence Community operations.
The selected candidate will develop and enhance scalable software systems that leverage distributed computing, cloud infrastructure, Big Data technologies, and advanced analytics. This position requires hands-on software engineering experience, strong knowledge of distributed data processing frameworks, and expertise in developing reliable, high-performance applications within UNIX/Linux and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate possesses experience with Java, C/C++, Hadoop, HDFS, NoSQL databases, RESTful services, and cloud-based application development. Experience developing automated analytics, processing massive datasets, and integrating open-source technologies is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Software Engineering & Development
Research, design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance cloud-based software applications and services.
Perform software requirements analysis, installation, integration, evaluation, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis and resolution.
Develop scalable software solutions supporting distributed computing and large-scale data processing.
Design and implement software applications using high-level programming languages such as Java, C, and C++.
Develop and maintain applications operating within UNIX/Linux environments.
Apply object-oriented software design principles to complex software systems.
Integrate and extend Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) technologies.
Troubleshoot application performance, integration, and operational issues.
Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting software design, development, deployment, and sustainment.
Big Data & Distributed Computing
Develop and support software applications utilizing distributed data processing technologies.
Work with open-source NoSQL platforms supporting massively parallel computation, including HBase, Accumulo, BigTable, or comparable technologies.
Develop software solutions using the MapReduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, and Pig.
Utilize the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) for distributed data storage and processing.
Support data ingestion, processing, transformation, and retrieval across large-scale distributed environments.
Develop applications that efficiently process structured and unstructured datasets.
Support software scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
Evaluate emerging Big Data technologies and recommend improvements to existing software architectures.
Software Integration, Testing & Quality Assurance
Develop and implement software integration strategies and testing procedures.
Create and execute software test plans, test scripts, and validation procedures.
Perform software integration testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
Review software components for compliance with design specifications and technical requirements.
Support system testing, regression testing, and operational validation activities.
Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend software enhancements.
Maintain technical documentation, test results, and software engineering deliverables.
Cloud Analytics & Application Development
Develop and deploy applications within cloud computing environments.
Support development of data-driven analytics, event-driven analytics, and rule-based analytic processing.
Develop RESTful services and APIs supporting application integration and data access.
Implement data serialization and transformation using JSON, BSON, and related technologies.
Support analytics involving large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate analytic capabilities into operational software systems.
Evaluate cloud scalability and distributed processing requirements.
Support application modernization and integration with cloud-based infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
At least eight (8) years of experience in software development or engineering, including requirements analysis, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis and resolution.
At least six (6) years of experience developing software using high-level programming languages, such as Java, C, or C++.
Demonstrated experience working with open-source NoSQL technologies supporting highly distributed and massively parallel computing, such as HBase, Accumulo, BigTable, or comparable platforms.
Demonstrated experience with the MapReduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, and Pig.
Experience working with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
Experience with data serialization formats such as JSON and/or BSON.
Demonstrated experience developing RESTful services.
At least five (5) years of experience developing software for UNIX/Linux operating systems, including Red Hat environments.
Experience performing requirements analysis and designing at least one object-oriented software system.
Demonstrated experience developing solutions that integrate and extend FOSS/COTS products.
At least three (3) years of experience in software integration and testing, including developing and implementing test plans and test scripts.
Demonstrated technical writing skills, including preparing technical documentation for software development projects.
Hadoop/Cloud Developer Certification or comparable Cloud System/Service Certification.
Demonstrated experience in at least four (4) of the desired technical characteristics applicable to this labor category.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly desired.
A bachelor's degree in a technical field may be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience.
A master's degree in a technical field may be considered equivalent to four (4) years of experience.
Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, and similar disciplines are considered technical fields.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of Big Data cloud scalability concepts and architectures used by major cloud technology providers.
Experience designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms.
Experience developing and deploying analytics involving foreign-language processing.
Experience developing analytic processes incorporating multimedia technologies, including speech, text, image, and video exploitation.
Experience developing analytics that operate on massive datasets, including environments containing more than one billion rows or exceeding 10 petabytes.
Experience developing analytics that identify semantic relationships between structured and unstructured datasets using inference engines or comparable technologies.
Experience developing analytics that identify latent patterns and relationships within extremely large datasets.
Experience applying artificial intelligence techniques, including genetic algorithms or comparable approaches.
Experience constructing taxonomies for analytic disciplines, knowledge areas, and technical skills.
Knowledge of linguistics, including grammar, morphology, and conceptual relationships.
Experience developing analytics that identify, analyze, and exploit social networks.
Experience documenting ontologies, data models, schemas, formats, data element dictionaries, APIs, and technical specifications.
Experience developing and deploying analytics within heterogeneous schema environments.
Experience deploying applications in cloud environments.
Experience developing data-driven analytics, event-driven analytics, and analytic workflows orchestrated through rules engines.
Experience supporting distributed data processing, cloud scalability, and high-performance computing environments.

Salary Range: $90.43 to $122.46 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications; and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
