Software Engineer (SWE) Skill Level 3

Wyetech is seeking a Software Engineer (SWE) Level 3 to develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems supporting mission-critical environments. These systems may include processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems.

The selected candidate will work individually and as part of a team, provide technical leadership across software-development efforts, recommend new technologies and processes, and ensure developed and modified software meets applicable design, performance, and quality requirements.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements.

• Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.

• Diagnose and resolve software problem reports and technical issues.

• Apply software-development and software-design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.

• Provide input into system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of COTS/GOTS solutions in place of new development.

• Perform requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level to individual software components.

• Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects.

• Serve as the technical lead for multiple software-development teams.

• Select appropriate software-development processes in coordination with the customer and Systems Engineering teams.

• Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software.

• Delegate programming and testing responsibilities across development teams and monitor team performance.

• Provide technical direction and mentorship while ensuring software-development activities meet project requirements and delivery objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity; OR

• Master’s degree in a related technical field and a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience; OR

• PhD in a related technical field and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience; OR

• Four (4) additional years of Software Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current Full Scope Polygraph (FS Poly) is required.

• Possession of a qualifying cloud certification is required and will be verified as part of the interview or offer process.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with AWS cloud environments, including serverless architecture and cloud application deployment.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform.

• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

• Experience developing production software for Solaris or Linux operating systems.

• Experience developing software using Java, C, or C++.

• Experience developing RESTful services.

• Experience supporting processing-intensive analytics and novel algorithm development.

• Experience manipulating and processing extremely large data sets.

• Experience developing or supporting real-time systems.

• Experience with voice or video processing systems involving ingestion of multiple audio/video formats, playback to end users, storage, and retrieval.

• Experience supporting environments involving average ingestion, storage, content search, and retrieval of 500 GB or more per day of multilingual text.

• Experience with distributed peer-to-peer content storage and retrieval systems containing more than 500 nodes.

• Experience with metadata indexing, metadata summarization, data mining, visualization, and analytics.

Technical Leadership:

• Lead multiple software-development teams supporting complex mission requirements.

• Provide technical guidance and direction to Software Engineers and development teams.

• Coordinate software-development processes with customers, Systems Engineers, and other technical stakeholders.

• Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, architectures, and development processes.

• Ensure software solutions meet applicable performance, interface, resource, security, and operational requirements.

• Monitor development and testing activities to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

Clearance Requirements:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current Full Scope Polygraph is required.

Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required.

Salary Range: $86.20 to $136.27 per hour

Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
