Wyetech is seeking an experienced Senior Applications Engineer – Level 4 to support mission-critical cloud infrastructure, enterprise security, and application engineering initiatives within the Intelligence Community.
The selected candidate will design, engineer, provision, secure, and sustain commercial cloud hosting environments in direct support of National Security Agency (NSA) missions. This position focuses on delivering scalable, reliable, and secure cloud capabilities that support a diverse enterprise user base and enable the integration of advanced cybersecurity technologies.
The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Python, cloud infrastructure engineering, and cybersecurity, along with demonstrated experience supporting complex enterprise networks, security technologies, and cloud-based application environments.
This position requires the ability to engineer, configure, test, install, integrate, operate, secure, monitor, maintain, and manage commercial Cloud Service Provider (CSP) solutions while ensuring operational reliability, security compliance, and enterprise scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Engineering & Management
Design, engineer, provision, configure, and sustain secure commercial cloud hosting environments supporting mission-critical applications and services.
Manage and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, services, and associated enterprise integrations.
Support the deployment, operation, security, monitoring, and sustainment of commercial Cloud Service Provider solutions.
Engineer cloud environments that support enterprise-wide scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python to support cloud provisioning, infrastructure management, and operational processes.
Perform cloud infrastructure troubleshooting, configuration management, maintenance, and performance optimization.
Support software integration, migration, testing, and deployment activities across cloud environments.
Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting cloud architecture, configuration, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure cloud capabilities meet customer requirements and security standards.
Network Engineering & Secure Communications
Provision, configure, maintain, and sustain enterprise network infrastructure.
Develop, operate, and manage networks supporting secure communications and cloud-based operations.
Support network environments utilizing:
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
Internet Protocol Security (IPsec).
Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
Evaluate and integrate network technologies supporting secure enterprise communications.
Support Domain Name System (DNS), routing, load balancing, and network traffic management capabilities.
Troubleshoot network connectivity, configuration, integration, and performance issues.
Support secure network communications across cloud and enterprise infrastructure.
Collaborate with network engineers, systems administrators, and cybersecurity personnel to maintain reliable and secure operations.
Cybersecurity Engineering & Security Tool Integration
Evaluate, integrate, and sustain emerging cybersecurity technologies for enterprise production environments.
Support implementation and maintenance of security technologies, including:
Host-Based Intrusion Detection Systems (HIDS).
Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS).
Antivirus and endpoint protection technologies.
Security audit collection and monitoring tools.
Network traffic monitoring and analysis capabilities.
DNS, routing, and load-balancing security controls.
Monitor the health, status, and operational performance of enterprise security tool suites.
Maintain, upgrade, refresh, and update security tools to ensure continued operational effectiveness.
Analyze newly identified vulnerabilities and deficiencies within enterprise cloud security environments.
Conduct gap analyses and identify opportunities to improve security capabilities.
Research and evaluate commercial security products to address identified vulnerabilities or operational deficiencies.
Develop technical analyses and recommendations for Government evaluation and solution selection.
Support deployment and integration of cybersecurity solutions across enterprise networks.
Software Engineering & Application Integration
Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain software tools and application components supporting cloud and cybersecurity operations.
Develop Python-based scripts and automation solutions to improve infrastructure management and operational efficiency.
Support software integration, migration, testing, debugging, and deployment activities.
Design software tools and subsystems that promote software reuse and efficient application development.
Develop and maintain software specifications, technical designs, and system documentation.
Apply software engineering methodologies, data flow diagrams, and appropriate design techniques.
Evaluate existing software applications and recommend improvements to performance, functionality, and maintainability.
Support application interfaces and integrations with enterprise cloud services.
Design and implement interfaces for retrieving and processing information from security scanning tools.
Support the development of graphical user interface (GUI) and web-based integrations.
Conduct quality assurance reviews and evaluate new and existing software products.
Security Monitoring, Database Administration & Operational Support
Continuously monitor the health and operational status of enterprise security tools and supporting systems.
Conduct database administration activities to identify, report, and correct degradation affecting system performance.
Support monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of enterprise cloud security capabilities.
Identify and resolve infrastructure, application, network, and security-related operational issues.
Support customer technical assistance and help desk activities as required.
Develop and maintain monitoring processes that improve system reliability and operational awareness.
Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and maintain service availability.
Support audit collection, security monitoring, and compliance-related technical activities.
Systems Integration, Testing & Configuration Management
Develop configuration plans, software enhancement plans, and engineering documentation.
Define, design, and implement secure system interfaces and access controls.
Enhance, modify, and test Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) technologies.
Ensure interoperability and compatibility with existing enterprise cloud architectures.
Prepare Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for applicable system configuration changes.
Coordinate testing, integration, implementation, and deployment activities with external system owners and technical stakeholders.
Support configuration management, release management, and system change control processes.
Install and integrate hardware and software solutions to support fully functional enterprise environments.
Validate deployed solutions against operational, technical, and security requirements.
Maintain system documentation, configuration records, and technical procedures.
Technical Leadership & Government Coordination
Provide senior-level technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity engineering, and application integration.
Coordinate with Government stakeholders and supporting organizations to identify technical requirements and evaluate potential solutions.
Conduct analyses of alternatives and prepare technical analysis packages for Government review.
Collaborate with supporting organizations to procure, deliver, track, and manage hardware and software resources.
Estimate software development costs, schedules, and technical resource requirements.
Direct, review, and evaluate technical work performed by other team members as appropriate.
Provide recommendations for improving enterprise security, cloud operations, and application performance.
Prepare and deliver technical instruction or training on newly deployed security capabilities when directed by the Government.
Support technical reviews, engineering assessments, and system improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Active DoD IAT Level II certification meeting applicable contract requirements.
Strong experience with Python, including scripting, automation, or application development.
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud-based infrastructure or services.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Experience supporting software engineering, cloud infrastructure, network engineering, or related technical environments.
Ability to analyze system requirements and develop effective technical solutions.
Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, or integrating complex enterprise systems.
Strong technical communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Ability to support secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise applications and infrastructure.
Education & Experience Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations. All qualifying education and experience must be in a technical field directly related to the Applications Engineer labor category. Degrees and diplomas must be from accredited institutions.

Clearance & Certification Requirements
Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP).

Salary Range: $91.22 to $123.52 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications; and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
