Application Engineer 4 (API)

Wyetech is seeking an Application Engineer Level 4 (Backend) to support the Secure the Enterprise initiative. This position supports the modernization of system security evaluation and authorization processes by transitioning from manual procedures to automated solutions emphasizing streamlined approvals, continuous monitoring and assessment, and network data gathering throughout the project life cycle.

The successful candidate will develop, test, deploy, and sustain Python-based REST endpoints, microservices, and data model management capabilities using Django and Flask frameworks. These applications will interact with data models stored in MariaDB or MongoDB and deliver requested data in JSON format to user interface (UI) front ends. The Application Engineer will provide middleware and backend development support across system applications, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient application performance.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Strong proficiency in Python programming and backend application development.

• Experience with Docker containerization and deployment.

• Experience developing applications using Django or Flask frameworks.

• Database experience with MongoDB or MariaDB.

• Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining RESTful API endpoints.

• Experience developing and supporting microservices architectures.

• Ability to develop, test, deploy, and sustain Python-based backend applications and middleware services.

• Experience integrating backend applications with databases and UI front-end interfaces.

• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Technical Skills:

• AWS or other cloud platform experience.

• Experience with JSON and/or XML serialization.

• Jira – issue tracking and project management.

• Confluence – technical documentation and collaboration.

• Git version control.

• Experience working in Agile software development environments.

The Applications Engineer designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analysis and manages their implementation. Manages software development and support using formal specifications, dataflow diagrams, accepted design techniques, and Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Estimates software development costs and schedules, reviews existing programs, and recommends improvements to reduce operating time and enhance
