Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) Skill Level 1

Wyetech is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) Level 1 to play a key role in securing complex information systems, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements, and protecting sensitive and classified information.

The ISSO will support the full lifecycle of system security operations, including Information Assurance (IA), security policy implementation, vulnerability and risk assessments, system monitoring, incident response, configuration management, security authorization, and the development and maintenance of required cybersecurity documentation.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Five (5) years of experience as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

• Experience must include at least one (1) of the following areas:

  • Knowledge of current security tools

  • Hardware/software security implementation

  • Communication protocols

  • Encryption techniques and tools

• Experience supporting the Information Assurance (IA) and cybersecurity requirements of classified information systems.

• Experience evaluating security solutions to ensure they meet requirements for processing classified information.

• Experience proposing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.

• Experience maintaining the operational security posture of an information system, program, or enclave.

• Experience performing vulnerability and risk assessments in support of system certification and accreditation.

• Experience developing and maintaining system security and authorization documentation.

• Experience performing Configuration Management (CM) for security-relevant information system software, hardware, and firmware.

• Experience managing system changes and assessing the cybersecurity impact of proposed or implemented changes.

• Experience administering user identification and authentication mechanisms for Information Systems.

Key Responsibilities & LCAT Capabilities:

• Serve as the Information Systems Security Approval Authority for systems under assigned control, as required by the position.

• Provide technical and compliance support for the organization's Information Assurance program.

• Plan, coordinate, implement, and enforce IT and information systems security programs across assigned systems and projects.

• Maintain the operational security posture of mission-critical information systems.

• Develop, implement, and enforce information systems security policies, standards, procedures, and methodologies.

• Perform day-to-day security operations, including system monitoring and incident response.

• Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet applicable security requirements for processing classified information.

• Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments in support of Certification & Accreditation (C&A) and system authorization activities.

• Provide support to the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in maintaining the appropriate operational IA posture for systems, programs, and enclaves.

• Develop and maintain C&A documentation in accordance with applicable ODNI and DoD policies.

• Develop and update System Security Plans (SSPs) and other Information Assurance documentation.

• Prepare, maintain, and review security documentation, including:

  • System Security Plans (SSPs)

  • Risk Assessment Reports

  • Certification & Accreditation (C&A) packages

  • System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs)

• Provide Configuration Management for security-relevant system software, hardware, and firmware.

• Manage changes to information systems and assess the security impact of those changes.

• Assist with managing all security aspects of assigned information systems.

• Develop system security policies and ensure compliance with established requirements.

• Administer user identification and authentication mechanisms for assigned Information Systems.

• Support security authorization activities in accordance with applicable Government and DoD certification and accreditation requirements.

Education & Experience:

• Five (5) years of experience as an ISSO on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

• Four (4) years of additional ISSO experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.

Certification Requirements:

• DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher certification is required.

Clearance Requirements:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.

Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required.

Salary Range:
$52.48 - $89.96
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
