Wyetech is seeking an experienced Database Engineer – Level 2 to support the Secure the Enterprise initiative, focused on modernizing and automating system security evaluation and authorization processes within a mission-critical Intelligence Community environment.
The selected candidate will support the transition from manual security evaluation and authorization processes to an automated, streamlined model emphasizing continuous monitoring, assessment, network data collection, and efficient approval workflows throughout the project lifecycle.
This position requires hands-on expertise in MongoDB database deployment, management, troubleshooting, optimization, and scaling. The engineer will design, develop, implement, and maintain database solutions that support enterprise security automation, data management, and application integration.
The ideal candidate possesses strong database engineering experience, expertise in MongoDB administration and performance optimization, and familiarity with Python-based RESTful services, microservices, Django or Flask, and cloud-based application environments.
Key Responsibilities
Database Engineering & Administration
Provide technical expertise in database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis.
Design, develop, deploy, maintain, and optimize database structures supporting enterprise security automation and mission-critical applications.
Deploy, configure, administer, and manage MongoDB database environments.
Troubleshoot database performance issues, identify optimization opportunities, and implement corrective solutions.
Support database scalability, availability, reliability, and operational performance.
Develop database architectures that align with overall system design and technical requirements.
Evaluate database trade-offs involving data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security, and domain controls.
Support short- and long-term database administration, development, and design requirements.
Database Development & Data Management
Lead the development of database structures, database parser software, and database loading software.
Develop and maintain relational and/or object-oriented database solutions.
Create, modify, and optimize database queries, scripts, and macros to support data processing and retrieval.
Develop database schemas that translate business and technical requirements into usable data structures.
Support database storage, retrieval, and integration using cloud-based methodologies.
Develop and maintain database structures supporting system integration, application functionality, and data exchange.
Assist with the analysis and evaluation of database improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts.
Support database engineering activities throughout the system development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
Application Integration & API Development
Support the development and testing of Python-based RESTful endpoints and microservices.
Work with Django and Flask frameworks to support application and database integration.
Develop and maintain database interactions involving MongoDB, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL.
Support data model management capabilities and application integration.
Develop services that retrieve and transmit data to user-interface applications in JSON format.
Support API integration, troubleshooting, testing, and performance improvements.
Collaborate with software engineers to ensure database structures and application interfaces meet technical and operational requirements.
Security Automation & Workflow Modernization
Support the Secure the Enterprise initiative by developing database capabilities that enable automated security evaluation and authorization processes.
Create and maintain workflows that replace existing manual processes.
Support continuous monitoring, assessment, and network data collection capabilities throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop database solutions that support streamlined approvals and automated data processing.
Provide break/fix support, troubleshoot existing workflows, and implement updates or enhancements.
Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, data accuracy, and system reliability.
Collaborate with engineering teams to modernize existing enterprise security systems.
Systems Integration & Technical Collaboration
Work with software developers, systems engineers, and customer stakeholders to define database requirements.
Support database integration with enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud-based services.
Develop requirement recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
Evaluate database architecture, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Participate in technical reviews, troubleshooting activities, and system improvement initiatives.
Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting database architecture, administration, and integration.
Support system testing, validation, deployment, and operational sustainment.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Five (5) years of experience as a Database Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
Five (5) additional years of relevant Database Engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
Hands-on experience with MongoDB, including:
Deployment, configuration, administration, and management of MongoDB databases.
Troubleshooting and debugging database optimization and performance issues.
Scaling MongoDB environments to meet application and operational requirements.
Experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining database structures.
Knowledge of database information storage, retrieval, data flow, and analysis.
Experience developing database architectures aligned with overall system requirements.
Experience creating, modifying, and optimizing database queries, scripts, and data structures.
Experience supporting database parser software and database loading processes.
Ability to evaluate database performance, scalability, security, and operational requirements.
Experience supporting database integration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and system improvements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing software using Python.
Experience with Django and/or Flask frameworks.
Experience developing and integrating RESTful endpoints and APIs.
Experience with microservices architecture and development.
Familiarity with Swagger for API documentation and testing.
Experience with AWS, C2S, or other cloud computing environments.
Experience with Docker and containerized application development.
Experience using Visual Studio Code or comparable integrated development environments (IDEs).
Experience with JSON and/or XML serialization.
Experience using Jira and Confluence for project management and technical collaboration.
Experience with Git version control.
Experience working within an Agile software development environment.
Familiarity with MariaDB and PostgreSQL database technologies.
Experience supporting Python-based RESTful services and microservices that interact with database models.
Experience supporting enterprise security automation, continuous monitoring, and authorization workflows.
Experience developing and maintaining database-driven applications in cloud environments.

Clearance Requirements
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.

Salary Range: $60.75 to $108.20 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation.
