Network Systems Engineer
Wyetech is seeking a highly capable Network Systems Engineer to support mission-critical operations within a customer environment. This position operates at the intersection of enterprise networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and real-time operational support, ensuring the availability, performance, reliability, and security of systems supporting national intelligence missions.
The ideal candidate thrives in high-tempo environments and possesses the technical expertise to monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and sustain complex, distributed systems. This operations-focused engineering role requires a strong understanding of enterprise networking, incident response, cloud infrastructure, and mission continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Infrastructure Support
Monitor and sustain high-availability network and cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical systems.
Analyze network traffic, system logs, and telemetry to detect anomalies, performance degradation, and potential mission impacts.
Provide real-time situational awareness and concise operational reporting to mission stakeholders.
Perform incident triage, root-cause analysis, and coordinated response actions across network and system layers.
Escalate technical issues with clear context, impact assessments, and actionable recommendations.
Develop and execute remediation strategies to restore services and prevent recurring incidents.
Maintain awareness of evolving network architectures, cloud capabilities, and threat landscapes within the customer environment.
Systems Engineering & Architecture
Analyze system requirements and support the design, integration, and sustainment of complex network and cloud environments.
Evaluate system architectures and identify opportunities to improve performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security.
Develop and maintain system architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
Support the integration of new technologies and infrastructure capabilities into existing operational environments.
Participate in system design reviews, requirements analysis, technical assessments, and integration activities.
Coordinate with engineering teams to identify and resolve system dependencies, interface issues, and operational risks.
Support system verification, validation, and performance analysis.
Contribute to system engineering processes, including configuration management, requirements traceability, and technical baseline maintenance.
Security, Incident Response & Mission Support
Support secure dataflows and cross-domain solutions while maintaining compliance with Intelligence Community security requirements.
Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, network engineers, and cloud architects to improve mission resilience.
Support incident response workflows and operational reporting within classified environments.
Analyze packet-level data, logs, and system metrics to identify and resolve network and infrastructure issues.
Communicate technical issues clearly in a mission-relevant, time-sensitive environment.
Coordinate remediation efforts across technical teams to minimize operational disruptions.
Support secure system integration and operational continuity.
Automation, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to operational runbooks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation.
Support automation initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency and incident response times.
Assist with infrastructure configuration management and deployment activities.
Identify opportunities to streamline monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational reporting.
Support continuous improvement initiatives involving network reliability, cloud operations, and system performance.
Document technical findings, incident resolutions, and recommended corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or related technical professional supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
Five (5) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Strong expertise in enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, switching, DNS, and network segmentation.
Experience supporting real-time operational environments, including Network Operations Centers (NOCs), Security Operations Centers (SOCs), or mission operations centers.
Proficiency with monitoring and analytics tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, SolarWinds, or comparable technologies.
Experience analyzing packet-level data, logs, and system metrics to support troubleshooting and performance tuning.
Solid understanding of Linux/Unix systems and operational scripting using Bash, Python, or similar languages.
Familiarity with cloud networking concepts, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, routing, load balancing, and security groups.
Experience with incident response workflows and operational reporting in classified environments.
Ability to clearly communicate technical issues, operational impacts, and recommended resolutions in a mission-relevant, time-sensitive context.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting a Maryland-based Intelligence Community customer or similar national intelligence missions.
Knowledge of cross-domain solutions (CDS), data tagging, and secure data transfer mechanisms.
Experience with DevSecOps, automation, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.
Familiarity with Zero Trust architectures and advanced network security controls.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government within classified environments.
Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Security+, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
Experience developing requirements related to system performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security.
Experience producing technical documentation, operational procedures, and training materials.
Experience integrating and extending Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) technologies.
Familiarity with Agile systems engineering and development methodologies.
Experience supporting distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale enterprise environments.
Experience collaborating across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and multidisciplinary engineering groups.

Contribute to modernization initiatives involving network infrastructure, distributed systems, and cloud-based technologies.

Salary Range: $67.67 to $91.63 per hour
