Cloud Software Engineer Skill Level 2
Wyetech is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer Skill Level 2 to design, develop, deploy, and sustain resilient cloud-native applications and infrastructure supporting mission-critical environments. The selected candidate will work across cloud architecture, microservices, containerization, distributed data pipelines, automated testing, and CI/CD while supporting highly scalable cloud solutions.
This position provides cloud software research, development, and engineering services throughout the software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis and resolution.
Cloud Architecture & Development
• Design and implement resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud-native architectures.
• Develop and maintain robust RESTful APIs and microservices using Java/Spring Boot or Python.
• Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker, emphasizing optimized image layering, security, and performance.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
• Create interactive, data-driven dashboards and visualization tools using modern front-end frameworks such as React or Solid.
• Support software requirements analysis, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
Orchestration & Data Pipelines
• Orchestrate complex services within Kubernetes environments, including management of deployments, ingress controllers, service meshes, and stateful workloads.
• Design and implement distributed data pipelines to efficiently ingest, process, and store high-volume data.
• Ensure seamless data flow between cloud storage, microservices, and application layers while maintaining high availability.
• Develop solutions supporting highly distributed and massively parallel computing environments.
• Work with Open-Source NoSQL technologies such as HBase, Accumulo, BigTable, or comparable platforms.
• Support distributed-processing technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, MapReduce, and HDFS.
Testing, CI/CD & Reliability
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines supporting rapid and reliable software delivery.
• Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and cloud-readiness testing.
• Develop and implement software test plans and test scripts.
• Monitor system health and performance and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks within production environments.
• Diagnose and resolve software, integration, cloud, and application issues.
• Support software integration and validation throughout the development lifecycle.
Collaboration & Communication
• Partner with data architects, DevOps teams, engineers, and product managers to align technical solutions with mission and business objectives.
• Produce clear technical documentation covering architectural patterns, deployment workflows, operational procedures, and software-development activities.
• Collaborate across technical disciplines to integrate and extend FOSS/COTS products.
• Communicate technical concepts, system designs, requirements, and operational procedures effectively to technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with Fullscope polygraph is required.
• Five (5) or more years of directly related software engineering or cloud-development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly desired and may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
• A Master’s degree in a technical field may be considered equivalent to four (4) years of experience.
• Degrees in Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a similar discipline will be considered technical fields.
• Experience performing requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
• Strong proficiency in Java/Spring Boot or Python.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Solid understanding of web-application frameworks and microservice architectures.
• Proven experience building and managing data-processing pipelines.
• Demonstrated technical-writing skills supporting software-development projects.
• Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Cloud Certifications
Candidates should possess applicable cloud/development certification experience, including one or more of the following:
• AWS Certified Developer – Associate
• AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
• Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
• Elastic Certified Engineer
Additional Technical Experience
• Experience developing software using high-level programming languages such as Java, C, or C++.
• Experience developing software within UNIX/Linux environments.
• Experience developing RESTful services and APIs.
• Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.
• Experience with requirements analysis and design of Object-Oriented systems.
• Experience developing solutions that integrate and extend FOSS/COTS products.
• Experience deploying applications within cloud environments.
• Understanding of Big Data cloud scalability and large-scale distributed computing.
• Experience designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms.
• Experience developing data-driven and event-driven analytics.
Desired Expertise
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, including Pods, Services, Namespaces, and resource management.
• Experience with Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs).
• Familiarity with distributed streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Familiarity with graph databases such as Neo4j.
• Expertise with cloud monitoring and observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK Stack.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code technologies, including Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with big-data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
• Experience with taxonomy construction for analytic disciplines, knowledge areas, and skills.
• Experience developing and deploying analytics orchestrated through rules engines.
• Experience with linguistics concepts such as grammar, morphology, and related analytic concepts.
• Experience developing analytics designed to discover and exploit social networks.
• Experience documenting ontologies, data models, schemas, formats, data-element dictionaries, APIs, and other technical specifications.
• Experience developing and deploying analytics within heterogeneous-schema environments.
Clearance Requirements
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required.

Salary Range: $79.63-$107.883 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
