Wyetech is seeking an experienced Software Engineer – Level 3 to support the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of complex software systems supporting mission-critical Intelligence Community operations.
The selected candidate will develop sophisticated software solutions involving processing-intensive analytics, advanced algorithm development, extremely large datasets, real-time systems, and enterprise information management applications. This position requires extensive software engineering expertise, strong technical leadership, and the ability to guide multiple development teams through the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has experience developing scalable, high-performance software systems, leading engineering teams, evaluating emerging technologies, and ensuring software solutions meet customer requirements, technical specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Software Engineering & Development
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented technical and functional requirements.
Develop software supporting processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithms, large-scale data manipulation, real-time processing, and business management information systems.
Analyze system-level requirements and translate them into detailed software component specifications.
Apply software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
Evaluate hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse opportunities, and the integration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions.
Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements.
Document software test results, identify defects, and resolve software problem reports.
Support software integration, enhancement, maintenance, and operational sustainment.
Technical Leadership & Development Management
Serve as the technical lead for multiple software development teams.
Recommend new technologies, engineering practices, and processes for complex software projects.
Select appropriate software development processes in coordination with customers and systems engineering personnel.
Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software.
Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more development teams and monitor performance.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to software engineering personnel.
Coordinate development activities to ensure alignment with customer requirements, project schedules, and technical objectives.
Review software designs, code, test results, and technical deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
Software Integration, Testing & Quality Assurance
Establish and maintain software testing, validation, and quality assurance processes.
Oversee software component integration and system-level testing activities.
Develop and review test plans, test procedures, and validation documentation.
Investigate and resolve complex software defects, performance issues, and integration challenges.
Ensure software components meet established design, reliability, scalability, and performance requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives involving software development processes, testing efficiency, and system maintainability.
Systems Engineering & Technical Collaboration
Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and customer stakeholders to define and refine software requirements.
Provide technical input to system architecture and software component design decisions.
Evaluate software reuse opportunities and alternative technical approaches.
Support technical reviews, architecture assessments, and engineering planning activities.
Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful delivery of mission-critical software capabilities.
Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting software design, integration, testing, and sustainment.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
Four (4) additional years of relevant software engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems.
Experience serving as a technical lead for multiple software development teams.
Ability to recommend and implement new technologies, engineering methodologies, and software development processes.
Experience selecting software development processes in coordination with customers and systems engineering teams.
Demonstrated experience ensuring quality control of developed and modified software.
Experience delegating programming and testing responsibilities and monitoring team performance.
Strong understanding of software design, requirements analysis, integration, testing, and sustainment.
Experience evaluating hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and COTS/GOTS integration.
Ability to translate system-level requirements into detailed software component specifications.
Experience reviewing software components, documenting test results, and resolving software problem reports.
Strong technical leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing voice or video processing systems supporting ingestion of multiple audio and video formats, playback to end users, storage, and retrieval.
Experience supporting the ingestion, storage, content search, and retrieval of 500 GB or more per day of multilingual text.
Experience developing or supporting distributed peer-to-peer content storage and retrieval systems with more than 500 nodes.
Experience with metadata indexing, metadata summarization, content and metadata mining, visualization, and analytics.
At least six (6) years of demonstrated experience within the most recent eight (8) years developing production software for Solaris or Linux operating systems.
Six (6) years of experience developing software using Java, C, or C++.
Demonstrated experience developing RESTful services and APIs.
Experience designing scalable software solutions for distributed computing environments.
Experience supporting high-volume data processing, storage, and retrieval systems.
Familiarity with performance optimization, distributed architectures, and software reliability.
Experience developing software supporting large-scale analytics and data-intensive mission applications.
Experience working within Intelligence Community or other mission-critical technical environments.

Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing software architectures.
Establish software development standards, engineering practices, and quality control procedures.
Oversee development activities across multiple software engineering teams.

Coordinate software integration, testing, deployment, and operational sustainment.
Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Support advanced algorithm development and large-scale data processing applications.
Collaborate with technical stakeholders to ensure software solutions meet customer requirements.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to improve engineering quality and team performance.
Maintain software documentation, design specifications, and testing deliverables.
Clearance Requirements
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position-appropriate security clearance are required.

Salary Range: $94.44 to $127.89 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications; and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
