Software Engineer (SWE) Skill Level 3 

Wyetech is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer Level 3 (SWE3) to develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems supporting mission-critical requirements. This senior-level position will provide technical leadership across multiple software development teams and support the design and development of sophisticated systems involving processing-intensive analytics, large-scale datasets, real-time systems, advanced algorithms, and business management information systems.

The Software Engineer will work closely with customers, Systems Engineers, and development teams to establish software-development processes, recommend emerging technologies, ensure software quality, and lead the successful delivery of complex software solutions.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

• Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex and diverse software systems based on documented requirements.

• Experience supporting software systems involving processing-intensive analytics, advanced algorithm development, extremely large datasets, real-time systems, and/or business management information systems.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of software-development teams.

• Experience reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements and documenting test results.

• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex software problems.

• Demonstrated knowledge of software-development and software-design methodologies appropriate to complex development environments.

• Experience contributing to software components of system design, including hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS solutions, and requirements analysis and synthesis.

• Demonstrated ability to provide senior-level technical direction and leadership across software-development efforts.

Key Responsibilities & LCAT Capabilities:

• Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software-development projects.

• Serve as the technical lead for multiple software-development teams.

• Select appropriate software-development processes in coordination with the customer and Systems Engineering teams.

• Ensure quality control of all newly developed and modified software.

• Delegate programming and testing responsibilities across one or more development teams and monitor team performance.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems in accordance with documented mission and technical requirements.

• Review and test software components to ensure compliance with established design and performance requirements.

• Document software test results and resolve software problem reports.

• Apply appropriate software-development and software-design methodologies throughout the development lifecycle.

• Provide technical input into system and software architecture and design decisions.

• Evaluate hardware/software tradeoffs, opportunities for software reuse, and the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions in place of new development.

• Analyze and synthesize requirements from the system level through individual software components.

• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to software-development personnel.

• Coordinate development activities across multiple teams to ensure technical consistency, quality, performance, and successful delivery.

Education & LCAT Qualifications:

• Twenty (20) years of Software Engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

• Four (4) years of additional Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Experience with voice or video processing systems involving the ingest of multiple audio and video formats, playback to end users, storage, and retrieval.

• Experience supporting the average ingest, storage, content search, and retrieval of 500 GB per day or more of multilingual text.

• Experience with distributed peer-to-peer content storage and retrieval systems containing more than 500 nodes.

• Experience with metadata indexing, metadata summarization, content and metadata data mining, visualization, and analytics.

• A minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated experience within the most recent eight (8) years developing production software for Solaris or Linux operating environments.

• Six (6) years of experience developing software using Java, C, or C++.

• Demonstrated experience developing RESTful services.

Clearance Requirements:

• TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required.

Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required.

Salary Range: $86.20-$136.27 USD Hourly
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
