Job Description

Provides expertise in integrating, installing, configuring, upgrading, compiling and supporting COTS/GOTS software in a heterogeneous operating system environment.

The Software Integration Engineer shall be responsible for working in Linux environments to perform Kubernetes cluster maintenance, administration, and capability development. Tools and Services include Kubernetes, Docker, PodMan, Helm, Flux, Git, Ansible, VS Code, VMWare, OneView, GitLab CI/CD, FastAPI, uv, HAProxy, NGINX, and the Atlassian Tool Suite (Confluence, Jira). Use of automated deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications is required to support its large mission base. Knowledge of IaC is required to support provisioning and maintenance of the clusters.

The Level IV Software Integration Engineer (SIE) shall possess the following capabilities:

Ability to integrate, install, configure, upgrade, compile, and support COTS/GOTS software.

Generate documentation for the full software stack.

Update software for sustainment support.

Basic Linux system administration skills and shell scripting.

Execute test codes for characterization of software performance.

Provide software product ownership for HPC tools.

Working knowledge of CM tools, web documentation, and issue tracking.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment and switch between various architectural paradigms.

Develop software tool plugins in the language in which the tools are written.

Determine the optimal, or best available, HPC configuration for customer needs.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and have at least ten (10) years of demonstrable experience with integrating, installing, configuring, upgrading, compiling, and supporting COTS/GOTS software in a heterogeneous operating system environment.

OR

The individual shall have five (5) years full time Computer Science directly related work that can be substituted for a degree and have at least ten (10) years of demonstrable experience.

OR

An industry recognized professional certification may substitute as one (1) year experience.

OR

A Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field may substitute for two (2) years' experience.

Candidates applying for this position must have a Cyberspace Certification & Qualification (C2Q) (e.g., Security+) or be willing to obtain a qualified certification within six months of assignment.

Experience using the Linux CLI and Linux suite of tools

Experience developing scripts using Bash/Python for task automation

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker/Podman

Experience administration and monitoring Kubernetes clusters

Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Kubernetes workloads (ingress, performance, networking, storage, etc.)

Experience with IaC principles, concepts, and methodologies using automation tools including Ansible

Experience using Flux to deploy and manage Helm Charts

Experience using Git for source code management, branching strategies, and team collaboration

Desired Skills

Experience with release management to include developing production deployment scripts and procedures

Experience working in a DevOps environment that uses Agile principles and methodologies

Experience using system monitoring tools such as Prometheus /Grafana

Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, etc.)

Experience with or willingness to learn development of Python and Kopf applications (FastAPI, operators, microservices, etc.)

CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator)

Clearance Requirements

Active TS Clearance with Customer Appropriate Polygraph

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $240,000 USD Annually

*Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
