Wyetech is seeking a skilled Software Engineer – Level 1 to support the Secure the Enterprise initiative, focused on modernizing and automating enterprise security evaluation and authorization processes within a mission-critical Intelligence Community environment.

As a member of the Data Management practice, the selected candidate will work within a Scrum team to develop, deploy, and maintain new functionality for an enterprise-level cybersecurity tool. This initiative focuses on transitioning manual security evaluation and authorization processes to a more automated, streamlined model emphasizing continuous monitoring, assessment, network data gathering, and improved operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in analytics development, experience supporting data processing and software engineering activities, and a willingness to learn and work extensively with Apache Pig and/or PySpark. The engineer will play a critical role in ensuring reliable, accurate data delivery while supporting the development and sustainment of enterprise cybersecurity capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics Development & Data Management

  • Develop, maintain, execute, and optimize Pig and/or PySpark analytics supporting enterprise cybersecurity operations.

  • Review data ingestion tickets and merge requests in collaboration with other developers.

  • Investigate data ingestion issues to ensure information arrives accurately and reliably within the system.

  • Develop and maintain analytics that support data processing, transformation, validation, and delivery to end users.

  • Monitor day-to-day data operations and troubleshoot issues affecting data quality, availability, and processing.

  • Develop queries and interfaces supporting existing and proposed databases and data repositories.

  • Design and implement complex database queries and data repository interfaces.

  • Identify opportunities to improve data processing efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.

  • Collaborate with Data Management team members to develop and deploy new application functionality.

Software Development & Engineering

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and components.

  • Modify existing software to implement new features, correct defects, and improve system performance.

  • Develop and implement algorithms that meet or exceed system performance and functional requirements.

  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.

  • Debug software applications, investigate problem reports, and implement corrective solutions.

  • Analyze system performance standards, data usage, workflows, and technical requirements to develop effective software solutions.

  • Apply software engineering principles and development methodologies appropriate to the project environment.

  • Evaluate software reuse opportunities and integration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) technologies.

Software Integration, Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Assist with developing and executing software test procedures.

  • Review and test software components for compliance with design and performance requirements.

  • Document testing results, software defects, and corrective actions.

  • Support software integration, validation, troubleshooting, and deployment activities.

  • Identify opportunities to improve software development processes and technical documentation standards.

  • Collaborate with engineers and developers to resolve software integration and performance issues.

  • Support continuous improvements to system functionality, stability, and maintainability.

Cybersecurity Automation & Enterprise Support

  • Support the Secure the Enterprise initiative by developing software capabilities that automate security evaluation and authorization processes.

  • Contribute to the development of workflows that streamline approvals, continuous monitoring, and assessment activities.

  • Support software functionality enabling network data gathering throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Develop and maintain data analytics supporting enterprise cybersecurity tools and operations.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving operational issues affecting data processing and system functionality.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support application modernization and process improvements.

Agile Development & Technical Collaboration

  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, development activities, and technical reviews.

  • Review merge requests and collaborate with other developers to maintain software quality.

  • Work with system engineers and end users to understand requirements and resolve technical challenges.

  • Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation.

  • Recommend improvements to software development processes, standards, and documentation.

  • Support code reviews, testing activities, and software deployment.

  • Contribute to team development efforts and provide technical leadership when appropriate to the software development process.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.

  • Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.

  • Four (4) additional years of relevant software engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.

  • Strong background in analytics development, including software solutions supporting data processing, transformation, or analysis.

  • Willingness and ability to learn Apache Pig and/or PySpark for developing and maintaining data analytics.

  • Experience analyzing user requirements and translating them into software design and performance specifications.

  • Experience designing, developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining software applications.

  • Experience debugging software, identifying defects, and implementing corrective solutions.

  • Experience developing database queries and working with data repositories.

  • Experience integrating software components into new or modified systems and operating environments.

  • Experience supporting software testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance improvements.

  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation supporting software development projects.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with patch management and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) tracking.

  • Experience developing software and analytics using Python.

  • Experience developing applications using Java.

  • Experience with Scala for data processing and analytics development.

  • Experience with Apache NiFi for data ingestion, transformation, and workflow automation.

  • Experience with Ansible for automation, configuration management, and operational support.

  • Experience working within an Agile or Scrum software development environment.

  • Hands-on experience developing or maintaining Apache Pig and/or PySpark analytics.

  • Experience supporting enterprise data management, data ingestion, and data quality validation.

  • Experience developing software supporting cybersecurity operations and automated security assessment processes.

  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing and distributed analytics environments.

Clearance Requirements

Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.

Salary Range: $46.97 to $107.44 per hour

Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications; and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
