AWS Cloud Software Engineer / DevOps Engineer – Level 3
Wyetech is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Software Engineer / DevOps Engineer – Level 3 to support mission-critical cloud modernization and software engineering initiatives within a fast-paced Intelligence Community environment.
The selected candidate will design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications and infrastructure supporting enterprise and mission operations. This position requires hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies, DevOps automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and cloud architects to build resilient, secure, and highly available cloud solutions while supporting integration, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational sustainment activities.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Software Engineering & Development
Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-native software applications and services.
Develop and enhance software solutions supporting mission-critical distributed systems and cloud environments.
Perform requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis and resolution.
Develop software using high-level programming languages such as Java, C, C++, Python, or similar technologies.
Design and implement scalable applications, microservices, and RESTful services.
Support the integration and extension of Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS), Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), and other existing software technologies.
Troubleshoot complex application and infrastructure issues to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
AWS Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
Support AWS cloud infrastructure deployments and modernization initiatives.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps practices and automation tools.
Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes technologies.
Support cloud infrastructure configuration management, deployment automation, and operational maintenance.
Apply cloud security, configuration management, and infrastructure reliability best practices.
Collaborate with cloud architects and engineering teams to implement secure, scalable, and highly available AWS solutions.
Software Integration, Testing & Operational Support
Support software integration, troubleshooting, system monitoring, and issue resolution.
Develop and implement automated testing procedures, test plans, and test scripts.
Perform integration testing and validation to ensure software meets operational and performance requirements.
Support ongoing deployment, maintenance, enhancement, and sustainment activities.
Participate in system performance optimization, scalability planning, and operational sustainment.
Implement and maintain cloud monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
Identify and resolve software defects, integration issues, and infrastructure performance concerns.
Agile Development & Technical Collaboration
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in Agile software development environments.
Participate in requirements analysis, system design reviews, technical planning, and software development activities.
Maintain software source code and configuration artifacts using Git-based version control systems such as GitLab.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, and operational procedures.
Support continuous improvement initiatives involving software engineering processes, automation, and deployment efficiency.
Contribute to engineering discussions involving architecture, system performance, security, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in software development and engineering, including requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience developing software using Java, C, C++, Python, or similar high-level programming languages.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting UNIX/Linux operating systems.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience with software integration and automated testing, including test plan and test script development.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application deployment.
Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using DevOps automation tools.
Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
Experience with Git-based version control systems such as GitLab.
Experience developing and maintaining software applications in distributed computing environments.
Experience with software design, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and operational sustainment.
Demonstrated understanding of software development lifecycle processes and Agile methodologies.
Experience developing RESTful services and working with modern application architectures.
Experience analyzing software requirements and designing object-oriented systems.
Demonstrated technical writing skills and experience preparing software engineering documentation.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
One of the following certifications is required:
AWS Certified Developer – Associate
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing scalable AWS cloud architectures.
Knowledge of AWS Well-Architected Framework Reviews.
Experience with serverless architectures and microservices.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration.
Familiarity with AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS Systems Manager.
Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
Knowledge of security best practices within cloud environments.
Experience supporting large-scale distributed systems and mission-critical applications.
Experience with open-source NoSQL technologies such as HBase, Accumulo, or Bigtable.
Familiarity with distributed data processing technologies, including Hadoop, Hive, Pig, MapReduce, and HDFS.
Experience working with JSON, BSON, or other data serialization formats.
Experience developing and deploying data-driven or event-driven analytics.
Experience integrating and extending FOSS/COTS products.
Familiarity with Big Data scalability and cloud-based distributed computing architectures.
Experience documenting data models, schemas, APIs, and technical specifications.

Salary Range: $90.43 to $122.46 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications; and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
